Six places not to be missed in District 3

District 3 is situated next to District 1, the center of Saigon. It has been ranked as the 18th coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out magazine. This lively district, known for its prime location, is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists. SILA Urban Living wants to highlight 6 must-visit places when exploring District 3.

1. Turtle Lake

Coming to the turtle lake, you have come to the food paradise in Saigon. Full of snack stores around the lake which is loved by young people. Located right at the border of District 3 and District 1, Turtle Lake has always been one of the favorite for locals and tourists. Some of our favorite dishes sold here are baked rice paper, fried fish balls, and peach tea.

It is great, isn’t it? What make it even better is its location! From Turtle Lake, it takes just a few minutes to walk to Notre Dame Cathedral, Diamond Plaza, and the Opera House.

2. Vinh Nghiem Pagoda

Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is a pagoda that was built in 1964 and completed in 1971. The pagoda has a very large campus with a series of massive architecture inside including the Tam Quan Gate, the central area (including Presbytery, lecture hall, classroom, and library), the Quan Am Tower, Xa Loi Community Tower, and Vinh Nghiem Stone Tower. Probably the most impressive structure is the Quan Am Tower which is a 7 story tower that is almost 40 meters tall.

The moment you enter the pagoda gate, visitors will feel calm and peaceful, a nice escape from the fast-paced life that visitors often experience in Saigon.

3. Tan Dinh Church

Donning a lovely pink exterior, Tan Dinh church is a captivating sight for both local and international tourists. Upon visiting, one can’t help but be enamored by the intricate design and the impressive statue. The central tower is comprised of domes, while the two flanking towers are adorned with beautifully decorated, fish scale tiles.

It’s no wonder that this place is a popular spot for young Saigonese to check in. If you visit the church, you can listen to the chime of the church bell ringing in the heart of this bustling city, and be sure to capture a photo at Tan Dinh church.

4. Southern Women’s Museum

The Southern Women’s Museum is a place to honor the traditional core values of Southern women. In the middle of the museum’s campus is the monument, “Southern Mother,” wearing a Ba Ba, a traditional scarf around the neck. Her face is very gentle but still exudes the values of the heroic woman: determination, faithfulness, and resourcefulness.

The museum displays artifacts such as costumes and jewelry, as well as professions such as silk and mat weaving. This museum also displays the work of heroic women during the war. They were dedicated to preserving history to educate future generations about the patriotism and traditions of Vietnamese women. You should come to visit and learn more about this herstory.

5. War Remnants Museum

This museum serves to protect the painful and true story of the Vietnam war. Located around the corner from SILA Urban Living, there are currently more than 20,000 documents and artifacts about the war against the US Army. Coming to the museum, all visitors will relive the years of the war, defending independence, democracy, and the Vietnamese people. This is a historical sight in the vibrant city of Saigon, don’t miss out on this place!

6. The Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City

On the campus of the Archdiocese is an old house that is well-known as a Chapel.
